On June 12, BASES Autism Services joined the Brightpoint Marletta Darnall Summer Block Party in Schaumburg for an afternoon centered on connection, outreach, and shared support.
The free event welcomed friends, neighbors, and local households to enjoy food, music, kids activities, raffles, and resource tables at the Brightpoint Marletta Darnall Child & Family Center on Schaumburg Road.
For BASES, the purpose of the day went beyond hosting an activity table. It was about being part of a larger network of organizations working toward the same goal: making sure people know where to turn when they need guidance, care, and practical resources.
That kind of collaboration matters.

When providers, public health teams, libraries, local businesses, elected officials, and service organizations show up in the same space, it becomes easier for caregivers to ask questions and find support without having to navigate everything alone.
BASES was grateful to stand alongside partners such as Wintrust Community Bank, Schaumburg Public Library, State Representative Michelle Mussman, Cook County Public Health, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and many other groups committed to serving the Schaumburg area.
With support from Andy’s Frozen Custard, our team helped bring a fun summer touch to the day. Our BCBA also prepared sensory goody bags that celebrated neurodivergence and gave visitors something useful to take with them.
We also brought back some BASES favorites, including our sensory station, obstacle course, and spin fish. These activities gave kids a chance to move, explore, and participate in a way that matched their comfort level. As always, the spin fish drew a lot of attention and became one of the most popular parts of our setup.
Throughout the afternoon, parents and caregivers asked about autism services, ABA therapy, free consultations, and how BASES individualizes care based on each learner’s needs. These conversations are always important because they give people a chance to better understand what support can look like before they ever make a formal decision.
A meaningful part of the event was also connecting with other organizations. Many were excited to learn that BASES provides more than direct ABA services. As an ACE credentialed provider, we offer staff training and professional workshops for teams who want to better understand and support neurodivergent individuals. BASES also offers first responder training, safety training, first aid training, and CPR training. These programs help professionals build confidence, improve communication, and respond with greater awareness in real-life situations.
This is one of the reasons BASES is different. Our BCBAs, RBTs, and fieldwork students are not only focused on what happens inside a session. They are committed to sharing knowledge in the wider community and helping build skills that last.
Our mission is to equip neurodivergent families with life-long skills for independence. Events like the Brightpoint Summer Block Party remind us that this work grows stronger when organizations work together.
Thank you to Brightpoint Marletta Darnall Child & Family Center, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and every partner who helped create a welcoming and resource-filled day for the Schaumburg community.
